DRAFT LEGISLATION: National Digital Literacy Month Act PREAMBLE WHEREAS digital literacy is essential for participation in the modern economy and society; AND WHEREAS access to digital skills and knowledge empowers individuals and communities to thrive in a connected world; AND WHEREAS Canada recognizes the importance of fostering digital equity across all regions and demographics; AND WHEREAS it is desirable to dedicate a period to raise awareness, celebrate achievements, and promote initiatives in digital literacy; THEREFORE, His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows: SHORT TITLE 1. This Act may be cited as the National Digital Literacy Month Act. NATIONAL DIGITAL LITERACY MONTH 2. Throughout Canada, in each and every year, the month of March is to be known as "National Digital Literacy Month." COMING INTO FORCE 3. This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.
