Response from Hon. Steven Guilbeault

The Government of Canada's carbon pricing program is a cornerstone of our climate action plan. In response to the specific questions: (a) The total carbon pricing revenues collected were $7.2 billion in 2023-24 and projected at $8.1 billion for 2024-25; (b) Approximately 90% of direct proceeds from the fuel charge are returned to households through the Canada Carbon Rebate, with 8 out of 10 families receiving more than they pay; (c) Administrative costs represent approximately 2% of total revenues collected; (d) The carbon pricing program is projected to reduce emissions by 50-60 megatonnes annually by 2030.
